Signaling a New Direction for Calgary
By mid-2009, The City of Calgary will complete a new long-term plan for the transportation networks and land-use within the city. At the direction of Council, the Plan It Calgary Project will work to develop the plan with the goal of sustainability at its heart. This includes; the social well-being of citizens, the health of our environment and the health of the economy, all of which are impacted by the land use and transportation planning choices made by The City.
Talking with the public and stakeholders is an important part of developing the Plan. Plan It Calgary is hosting a 2-day Summit on 14 and 15 November and citizens and organizations are encouraged to participate.
The Summit is an opportunity to:
* Learn about the Plan It Calgary project and how it will influence how the city will grow in the future,
* Hear from international experts about how cities are adapting to land use and transportation challenges,
* Find out what fellow Calgarians have said in recent surveys, focus groups, and feedback sessions about how they would like the city to grow, and
* Provide feedback on how Calgary’s communities could evolve in the future.
There will be a series of events during the Summit, including:
* 3D interactive Design It Workshop,
* Plenary and keynote presentations by international and local experts,
* Gallery of work of the Plan It Calgary project to date
* Interactive feedback sessions on transit, design of local communities and more.
